Today, June 7th, news has broke that the legendary hip hop artist Lauryn Hill is facing up to one year in jail due to unpaid taxes that amount to over $1.6 million. According to U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman, she is facing up to one year for failing to pay her taxes for three full years from 2005, 2006, and 2007.
Lauryn's court date is set for June 29th to address the issue. If convicted of the three charges set against her for missing 3 years worth of tax payments, she could face a maximum penalty of one year in a prison cell, and she will also have to pay a hefty $100,000 fine.
Let's hope all goes well for her, as it would be tragic to see yet another talented individual fall to financial troubles.
